Ben Caplan’s debut studio album In the Time of the Great Remembering introduces his signature blend of folk, blues, and Eastern European influences. Originally released in 2011, the record features Caplan’s gravelly, expressive vocals backed by The Casual Smokers. 

The instrumentation is rich and varied, with guitar, banjo, piano, clarinet, saxophone, flute, violin, and upright bass creating a layered, dynamic backdrop. Lyrically, the songs explore love, longing, and uncertainty with a mix of sincerity and irony, striking a balance between intimacy and exuberance.
